Beginner Foil 1 and 2
In the Beginner Foil classes we will be teaching the basic stance, lunge,
parries, and basic attacks as well as the basic concepts of foil fencing. In
these classes we are teaching form, because form is so important in fencing -
We maintain this focus on form through the intermediate level.
Intermediate Foil 1 through 4
In these classes students will learn new moves and improve skills they have
already been learning. Students will learn new types of parries such as the
half circle, and new attacks like the classic bind. In each level of Intermediate
Foil, new moves will be introduced.
Advanced Foil 1 through 6
These classes will teach advanced moves and tactics. In these classes the
student will be pushed harder - as the classes are two hours long. These
classes will work the student harder. During tests students will have to hit on
attacks and must fully parry when attacked. There are different focuses during
each level of Advanced Foil, such as footwork in Advanced 1, and
parries/repostes in Advanced 2.
Saber and Epee 1 through 10
These classes are for those who have passed the beginner foil classes, and
wish to learn saber or epee. In these classes we have ten levels of both saber
and epee. The first four levels are equivalent to the Intermediate Foil classes
in that they are all about form. The latter six classes parallel the Advanced
Foil classes in the teaching of advanced moves and tactics. In these classes
students may use saber or epee, but not both.
Little Tikes
Little Tikes is for ages 4-7. The kids will be using a foam 'saber'. This is a fun
class, both to participate in as well as hilarious to watch. The students will
learn the very basics of saber. Students will be suited up using all of the
equipment.
Historical Fencing
This is not fencing, but a lot of fun to take. We use rapiers and mandoes
(parrying daggers). This class teaches dueling the way it was from the 16th to
the 19th century. There are six levels of this class. In this class students must
wear underarms (extra chest protection) as well as fencing pants (knickers).
